內容簡介

在編輯這個文庫時,我們在兩方面下了功夫。一方面,在選書時,我們求全,求新,求有代表性和前瞻性。我們不偏愛一家之言,也不只收一家外國出版社之書。語言學與應用語言學的主幹學科固然受到了應有的重視,分支學科可也不忽視。語料語言學、語言統計學是新興學科,我們收入了專著;句法學、語義學久已有人研究,我們也找到了有關的最新著作。

另一方面,我們邀請了國內知名的博士生導師、碩士生導師為各書撰文導讀,為讀者鋪平道路。語言學和應用語言學專著包羅宏富,初學者讀起來可能覺得茫無頭緒。為了助他們一臂之力,本文庫中每一種書我們都請專家寫了一萬字左右的導讀材料。哪怕書中內容比較陌生,誰只要在讀書前看一下導讀材料,讀書後把材料再看一遍,一定能弄清脈絡,掌握要點。

近年來,國際交往日益頻繁,國際貿易急速發展,出現了一種前所未有的現象:學外語、教外語、用外語的人多了;研究語言學和應用語言學的人多了;開設這方面專業的高校也多了,語言學碩士生和博士生也多了。就是不以此為專業,學習語言學和應用語言學的也不乏其人。為了給從事這個專業的師生提供便利,同時又幫助一般外語教師、涉外工作者以及漢語研究者開闊思路,擴大視野,提高效率,我們獻上這套內容嶄新而豐富的叢書——英文版《當代國外語言學與應用語言學文庫》。

文庫首批推出54部外國英文原著,它覆蓋了語言學與應用語言學26個分支學科。這批書是我們與各地有關專家教授反復研究之後精選出來的。出版這樣大規模的語言學與應用語言學叢書,這在我國語言學界和外語教學界是破天荒第一次。

我們這樣做,抱著什麼希望呢?總的說來,是遵循教育部關於加強一級學科教育的指示,在世紀之交,推出一套書來給中國的外語教育領航,同時也給一般外語工作者和漢語研究者提供資訊,拓寬思路。
