C．S．路易斯(Clive Staples Lewis, 慣稱 C. S. Lewis, 1898 - 1963）

　 　1898年出生於北愛爾蘭，堪稱二十世紀最具影響力的奇幻文學作家之一，以千萬讀者神迷的「納尼亞傳奇」（The Chronicles of Narnia）系列作品享譽全球，尤獲得英國兒童文學最高榮譽卡尼基文學獎之肯定；與《魔戒》作者托爾金交往密切，互相討論創作想法，且同為「墨林」 （The Inklings）作家俱樂部成員。

　　路易斯於牛津大學深造且開始教授英國文學，1954年被劍橋大學推選為「中世紀及文藝 復興時期英國文學」講座教授，此教職持續至退休為止。由於童年在家上學的特殊際遇，使他格外沉迷童話、神話和古老傳說，成為他創作的靈感來源，擅用寓言成 分和諷諭手法，帶入幾分神學內涵。

　　Clive Staples Lewis (1898-1963) was one of the intellectual giants of the twentieth century and arguably one of the most influential writers of his day. He was a Fellow and Tutor in English Literature at Oxford University until 1954, when he was unanimously elected to the Chair of Medieval and Renaissance Literature at Cambridge University, a position he held until his retirement. He wrote more than thirty books, allowing him to reach a vast audience, and his works continue to attract thousands of new readers every year. His most distinguished and popular accomplishments include Out of the Silent Planet, The Great Divorce, The Screwtape Letters, and the universally acknowledged classics The Chronicles of Narnia.
