　　1939年8月23日，第二次世界大戰期間，希特勒與史達林簽署互不侵犯條約，史達林在條約中得到波羅的海三小國。在1940年，蘇聯軍隊進入立陶宛，該國在地圖上消失，成為蘇維埃社會主義共和國聯邦的一部分。直到1990年，立陶宛人民爭取獨立成功，重新回到祖國的懷抱。
