Steve is the first coach to win an Olympic Medal in beach volleyball coaching Australians Natalie Cook and Kerri Ann Pottharst to the first ever Olympic Bronze Medal in 1996 Atlanta. In 2000 Steve again made history by becoming the first African American to coach a team to an Olympic Gold Medal in either discipline of volleyball (indoors and beach). This lead to his team winning the Federation Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) 1990 - 2000 International Team of the Decade award. Steve started his professional coaching career in 1990 on the Women’s Professional Volleyball Association (WPVA) Tour. In 1994 Steve, along with business partners Lucy Han and Heather Hafner, founded and Co-Directed the USA’s first outdoor volleyball coaching association, the Association of Beach Volleyball Coaches, based in Los Angeles. In 2005 Steve launched his international coaching career coaching the first Swiss women’s beach volleyball team to compete on the International FIVB World Tour, Marianne Bollinger and Miriam Buffat. In 2008 Steve co-founded his second non-profit organization with Elijah Jibly-Harari, the African Scouts of Queensland, a division of Scouts Queensland based in Brisbane, Australia. Steve has been the Head Coach of Volleyball with the Queensland Academy of Sport, the International Coaching Director with the Australian Beach National Team, the Vanuatu Beach Volleyball Coaching Coordinator, two-time Indonesian Asian Games Official, four-time Australian Olympic Games Official, Olympic Bronze Medal Coach, Olympic Gold Medal Coach and current Head Coach of the Volleyball Canada Beach National Program. Steve has also founded four businesses and two non-profit organizations. Steve has coached over 150 individual professional beach volleyball athletes from 14 different countries including: Australia, USA, Japan, Costa Rica, Canada, UK, Indonesia, France, Switzerland, Angola, Denmark, Aland, New Zealand and Vanuatu. Steve’s life mission is to assist people to wake up their inner champion, fully express their talents and gifts and live their dream-life with success and fulfillment.
