In the series Breathe, Shawna Songer Gaines teaches women how to read the Bible and see themes of God's love and grace woven throughout Scripture.

Through DVD teaching lessons and workbooks, Breathe takes you through the echoes of biblical stories throughout Scripture, exploring the character of God and what it means to us today.

Creation began with a breath. And God is still breathing into us today, still creating and making us new.

The first 8-week study in the Breathe series is called Created, and deals with the very rst echo in Scripture: the echo of creation. It takes far more than the rst couple chapters in Genesis to contain the story of God's creative activity in the world. They are only a foretaste to an elaborate story of our creator God, a story that is alive still today and calls us to surrender to God's desire to make all things new.

Shawna Songer Gaines, MDiv, serves as the university chaplain at Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tennessee. She has served as a co-pastor of Bakersfield Church of the Nazarene in Bakersfield, CA, as a youth pastor in Chicago, and as a communications consultant for Nazarene Missions International. She authored two other studies in the Breathe series, Created and Wilderness, and co-authored two books, A Seat at the Table and Kings and Presidents, with her husband, Tim.
