An Anthology of Contemporary Arabic Literature: Writing from the Maghreb, the Mashreq and the Khaleej

Introducing the works of forty modern Arab writers, from fifteen Arab countries, this collection focuses on modern Arabic Literature and society. Organised thematically, it places particular emphasis on issues of identity, social structures and the dynamics of Arab culture in the Mashreq (Middle East), Khaleej (Gulf), and the Maghreb (North Africa).

Readers can view this postcolonial literature as a cultural lens, showing not only traditions and customs but also the sociopolitical culture of the 'Arab World'.
