Fabio Rambelli is Professor and International Shinto Foundation Chair of Shinto Studies, Department of East Asian Languages and Cultural Studies, and Department of Religious Studies, University of California, Santa Barbara, USA. Recent publications include Buddhism and Iconoclasm in East Asia: A History (Bloomsbury, 2012), Buddhist Materiality Buddhist Materiality: A Cultural History of Objects in Japanese Buddhism (2007). He is the series editor of Bloomsbury Shinto Studies.

Andrea Castiglioni is Postdoctoral Researcher and Lecturer at the University of California, USA.
