Dave Anderson was one of America’s foremost sportswriters for nearly 60 years. He began writing for The New York Times in 1966 and was given his own column five years later. In 1981, he was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for commentary. A member of the National Sports Writers and Sportscasters Hall of Fame, Anderson authored 21 books and more than 350 magazine articles. He died at the age of 89 in 2018. Bill Pennington has been a sports reporter and columnist at The New York Times since 1997 and is the author of five books, including two on the Yankees. A 10-time winner of the Associated Press Sports Editors national writing award, he also spent six seasons as a Yankee beat writer.
