Mario Pierobon works in business development and project support at Great Circle Services Safety Solutions and is an aeronautical journalist writing for AeroSafety World, Aviation Week & Space Technology and Aircraft Technology Engineering & Maintenance. Mario holds an MSc in Air Transport Management from City University, London which he was awarded following the authoring and dissertation of a thesis on The case for implementing Risk Management in Airline Ground Operations. The thesis was developed while working in the Safety, Operations and Infrastructure division of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in Montreal. During his time at IATA, Mario was involved with the ISAGO audit program, the IATA Ground Operations Manual, the development of IATA’s ground-damage database and the administration of a survey concerning the degree of familiarization of the ground-operations industry with risk management. While in Montreal he attended several ground-operations industry meetings including meetings of the IATA Ground Handling Council, the airside safety group and the ISAGO Oversight Committee.
