強納森‧法蘭岑（Jonathan Franzen）

　　1959年生，美國小說家、散文作家，《紐約客》撰稿人。1996年，37歲、已經出版過兩本小說的法蘭岑在《哈潑》（Harper's）雜誌上發表的一篇題為〈偶然作夢——在影像世紀還寫小說的一個原因〉的文章，表達其對文學現況的惋惜，引起眾多矚目。他的第三部小說《修正》（2001）出版後好評如潮，法蘭岑憑此書獲得美國國家書卷獎及2002年美國普立茲獎提名。第四本小說《自由》（2010）令他登上《時代》（Time）雜誌封面，被譽為「偉大的美國小說家」。最新長篇小說《純真》（2015），亦引領話題旋風。

　　出生於美國伊利諾州，母親是美國人，父親是瑞典人。在聖路易度過童年，1981年從斯沃思莫學院（Swarthmore College）畢業，主修德文。1979-1980年，通過韋恩州立大學設立的「去慕尼克讀大三」合作項目，曾到德國留學。1981-1982年，獲歐布萊特獎學金在柏林自由大學學習，因此會說一口流利的德語。創作第一部小說期間，曾在哈佛大學地震實驗室打工。現居紐約。

　　著有五本小說：《第27個城市》（The Twenty-Seven City）、《強震》（Strong Motion）《修正》（The Corrections）、《自由》（Freedom）、《純真》（Purity），兩部散文集：《如何獨處》﹝How to Be Alone）、《到遠方》（Farther Away），一部個人史：《不舒適區》（The Discomfort Zone），並譯有法蘭克‧韋德金德（Frank Wedekind）的《春醒》（Spring Awakening）等。
