Digital technology was not only a tool, but a formidable weapon in terms of privacy, cybersecurity, social media, broadband, information gap, ethical standards, human rights, etc. People always used these technologies to improve their own life, to the contrary, someone with bad intention tried to outrageously disrupt the peace, such as disinformation and cyberattacks.
In a sense, encryption may be one of solutions to the aforementioned problems, in effect, this case-by-case solution was far from perfect in the upcoming digital age. It was just a part of equation. So, what can we do? How should we do? It is not yet completely clear in new ways.
This book by Brad Smith, a Microsoft’s president, pointed out some directions and answers from the impacts of the past to the challenges of the future. In short, it is worth reading.
