Thomas Peschak is a National Geographic photographer who specializes in documenting the beauty and fragility of the world’s oceans, islands, and coasts. Originally trained as a marine biologist, he embraced photojournalism after realizing his images could have a greater conservation impact than scientific statistics. His TED Talk, Dive into an Ocean Photographer’s World has been viewed more than 1 million times. Peschak is also a National Geographic Explorer and Fellow who has mounted expeditions to some of the most remote islands in the world for his Seabird Crisis project and has society support for an underwater megatransect of the Amazon river.
