Lloyd Evans is an ex-Jehovah’s Witness writer, activist and filmmaker. In 2011, he founded JWsurvey.org - an online resource aimed at assisting those who wish to leave the Witness faith. More recently, in 2017, Lloyd published his first book "The Reluctant Apostate" - a part-memoir, part-reference work interweaving his life story with Watchtower teachings and history. Lloyd has been interviewed on the David Pakman Show, Freethought Radio, the Thinking Atheist podcast, the Secular Jihadists podcast and BBC World Service radio. He has written for various websites, including Hemant Mehta’s "Friendly Atheist" blog. Lloyd’s "John Cedars" YouTube channel has over 20,000 subscribers and has attracted over 5 million views. In recent years, Lloyd has established himself as a passionate advocate against cults and religious fundamentalism, stressing the need for governments to properly address human rights violations by high-control groups. A firm atheist, Lloyd points to the religion of his upbringing as just one example of the harm that can ensue when religious authority goes unchecked.
