內容簡介

This is the first paperback edition in a topical non-fiction collection about sustainability, now expanded to include new material. A child follows a day in the life of Milly the cow, as she munches grass with her friends, drinks gallons of water, makes cow pats in the field and visits the milking parlour with her farmer. Milly’s milk is made into butter, cheese and yoghurt.

This series encourages children to be environmentally aware by understanding where their food comes from. Each book is full of information that has been fact checked, yet presented in a simple and stylish way to spark the interest of both young children and adults. There is a simple quiz and fun facts at the end to explain more about dairy farming and produce, and this new edition includes a gallery of cow breeds and a simple recipe using milk.

  Review
“A perfect introduction to how milk is produced…There is rich vocabulary: herd, parlour, dusk, bulge, guzzles, and a word quiz and milk facts reinforce new word learning.” - Just Imagine

“Attractive, clear illustrations enhance the text. This important book, endorsed by The Royal Association of British Dairy Farmers, teaches young children how their food is produced and helps them to appreciate their environment.” - The English Association

“The text is fact-filled but never dull.” - Books for Keeps

“A lovely introduction to how milk is produced … The series would be a wonderful addition to discussions on sustainability … an entertaining and informative read.” - The School Librarian

“A factual picture book with simplistic yet adorable illustrations that comes as one of a four-part collection showing children where their food comes from and what farms are like.” - Big Issue North

“Ask a group of young children where milk comes from and if my experience is anything to go by, some of them will name a supermarket. Now here’s a simple picture book, the first of a series, that goes right back to grass roots.” - Red Reading Hub

“An enlightening and entertaining new picture book series which helps children to understand where their food comes from… and just how precious it is … Message in a bottle for your little eco-warriors…” - Wigan Today
