abstention 《棄權，廢票
「表決的時候放棄投票權」，也可以指「廢票」。在一般商業用語上並不常使用，但是經常出現在會議記錄等和會議有關的場合。

在最後一刻，他投了廢票。

An ●abstention would be counted in determining whether a quorum is present at the meeting.
為了確認是否達到會議的法定出席人數，將廢票也列入計算。

There were ■ three abstentions.
有三人棄權。

It was ▲a vote of 15 in favor, 5 against, with 5 abstentions.
投票結果為，15人贊成，5人反對，5人棄權。
使用動詞abstain的時候，例如Three members abstained from voting.（棄權的有三名），後面要接 from來使用。

access 《存取
雖然原意是指「接近」，但卻變為用來表示「能夠使用，使用的權利」的意思。屬不可數名詞。
