Kavanaugh Love: A Story of Communion

Kavanaugh Love is a math poem that describes my journey through what is called a Kundalini Awakening.

For years I had lower back pain, and then one day I found myself doing spontaneous yoga poses that I had no previous awareness of. At the time, I had not yet heard of the Kundalini. But I learned. I even traveled to India in 2007 to gain a deeper understanding of the Yoga.

In Kundalini Yoga, the body consists of seven energy centers called chakras. These chakras run from the base of the spine to the crown of the head. I use my mathematical training to relate a personal story to the larger story of the Kundalini Shakti. The balance of mathematics and poetry is why I refer to the work as a math poem.

In other news, I'm engaged to a beautiful yoga teacher. I'm from Bowie, Md. and I have two wonderful nieces.
