One of the best known record dates in the history of modern jazz, the chemistry among Adderley, Miles Davis, Hank Jones, Sam Jones and Art Blakey is amazing. Their reworkings of "Autumn Leaves" and "Love For Sale" are masterpieces. Miles' title tune and Nat Adderley's "One For Daddy-O" are classics.

為什麼藍調之音能在爵士史上佔有如此重要的地位？我們可從其創辦人萊翁在一次錄音後所寫的錄音報告中得見端倪：「這份演奏的水準已經足以發行，可是卻還達不到藍調之音要求的標準。」是的，對於音樂品質的堅持就是藍調之音得以成功的關鍵。在每次正式的錄音之前，藍調之音都會先付費讓樂手們在前兩、三天就進錄音室排練，這使得樂手們能夠在錄音時呈現絕佳的默契與音樂性，讓最後完成的母帶中充滿了創意。「經典25」中的二十五張專輯就是這種堅持精神下的傑出產物，它們皆錄於藍調之音最輝煌的黃金時期，是藍調之音眾多錄音當中的經典之作。對於每個喜愛爵士樂的樂迷而言，「經典25」絕對是唱片架上不可或缺的珍藏。

僅僅活了四十七歲的「加農炮」艾德利，在爵士音樂史上，紿終只受到少數有識之士的敬重，對大部份爵士樂迷而言，始終只覺得他是一位流行樂匠，而很少體認到他大師級地位和影響力的一面。他的音樂風格帶有藍調的影響，雖然有時會因為老式作風引人批評，但在最好時，總是讓人驚訝這位樂手對於爵士藝術的奉獻與執著之深。這張經典錄音灌錄時，艾德利才剛在SAVOY錄下他生平第一張專輯，但卻是在這張與邁爾戴維斯的合作，激發了兩人演奏事業早期最燦爛的一面。

這張專輯的光芒，掩蓋了艾德利同時斯所有的錄音作品，展現了這位爵士藝人大師的一面。艾德利的地位及作品，在台灣或美國本土的樂迷心目中，都未能獲得普及的認同，這張專輯是邁爾戴維斯投桃報李，為先前艾德利替他在MILESTONE和KIDA BLUE的錄音中跨刀助陣，而特地前來回報的。這一段期間的艾德利最為人稱道的就是一票一流團員的助陣，包括米爾特傑克森、亞特布雷基、溫頓凱利和培西希特等都是一時之選，這幾人此後也未再重逢，這份錄音，因此不只因艾德利和戴維斯的情誼和演奏難得，也因為這幾位一時之選而難得。
