Mitja SARDOČ is a senior research associate at the Educational Research Institute in Ljubljana (SLOVENIA) where he is member of the ’Social Contract in the 21st Century’ research programme. His research interests and expertise include philosophy of education, contemporary political philosophy, education policy, citizenship education, multiculturalism and equality of opportunity. Over the last two decades he has been a member of several [national and international] research projects on inclusive education, multiculturalism, diversity and equality of opportunity, patriotism, citizenship education etc. He is Managing Editor of Theory and Research in Education and member of the editorial board of Educational Philosophy and Theory and the Open Review of Educational Research. He also refereed journal articles for several scholarly journals including the Cambridge Journal of Education, Journal ofInterculturalEducation, European Journal on Educational Research, Annales [Historia et Sociologia], Two Homelands etc. He is author of more than 40 scholarly articles, book chapters and editor of several journal special issues on multiculturalism, citizenship, diversity, patriotism, toleration and equality of opportunity. He is a contributing author to the SAGE Encyclopedia of Educational Theory and Philosophy as well as the Springer Encyclopedia of Educational Philosophy and Theory and Editor-in-Chief of The Handbook of Patriotism (Springer, 2019).
