April Haynes is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Program in Gender and Women’s History at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA. She teaches courses on Women and Gender in World History, Transnational Gender History and Women and Gender in the US before 1870. Her first book, Riotous Flesh: Women, Physiology, and the Solitary Vice, won the James Broussard prize from the Society for Historians of the Early American Republic in 2016.
