Hamburg - Positionen, Pläne, Projekte: 2: Nachbarschaft Gestalten

Hamburg setzt auf eine nachhaltige innere Stadtentwicklung. Neue Orte des Wohnens, der Dienstleistung, der Produktion, des Verkehrs, aber auch der Erholung entstehen in neuen Nachbarschaften. Die Dichte der Bebauung und die Weite der Freiräume müssen gut Miteinander abgewogen werden, um die Wege in der Stadt kurz zu halten und ein gutes Klima zu wahren.

Welche Räume braucht die nachhaltige und verdichtete, aber auch bezahlbare Stadt für Wohnen, Arbeiten, für neue Mobilität und Freizeit? Welche Rolle spielt dabei der städtische Grund und Boden? Wie und mit welchen Materialien müssen Häuser klimagerecht gebaut oder umgebaut werden?

Der zweite Band dieser Reihe zeigt die dazu in Hamburg eingenommenen Positionen in Essays und Gesprächen auf und stellt Pläne, Strategien und Bauten für eine nachhaltige, nachbarschaftliche Stadtentwicklung vor.

Hamburg has set its sights on sustainable inner-city development. New
neighborhoods with more spaces for housing, services, manufacturing,
traffic, and leisure are now being created. However, building density
and the location of open spaces must be carefully balanced in order to
preserve the environment and maintain short travelling distances within
the city.

What residential, working, mobility, and leisure
spaces are needed in a dense, sustainable, and yet affordable city? What
role does the ground on which the city is built play? How--and with what
materials--should buildings be built or reconditioned in order to be
climate-friendly?

The second volume in this series reveals the
positions on these topics taken by the city of Hamburg in essays and
dialogues, presents the plans, strategies, and buildings that aim to
foster sustainable, neighborly city development.

Olaf Bartels is an author, editor, curator, and presenter. He studied architecture at the University of Fine Arts Hamburg and has published numerous books, magazines, and research on both contemporary and historic architecture, as well as urban development, in Germany and Turkey. He has worked as a university lecturer in Berlin, Braunschweig, Hamburg, Istanbul, and Ankara, and currently teaches at HafenCity University in Hamburg. In addition to this, he is a member of the Deutsche Akademie für Städtebau und Landesplanung (DASL), an association of experts in the field.
