The book also provides pre-emptive strategies for parents (i.e. what parents can do to set the stage for good behavior-before any problems arise). The overall tone and approach of the book is warm, reassuring, and engaging--especially for parents who are "at their wit's end" with their children, and those who are trying to wade through all the conflicting mass media parenting advice about child behavior. The book is also authoritative and integrates relevant research findings, but in an accessible, parent-friendly way. The author includes real-life examples and vignettes from her professional experiences as a school psychologist and parent coach (whenever appropriate). The book has parent-friendly illustrations & visuals that will help parents absorb the various behavior management strategies.

Tara Egan, EdD, founder of ＂Charlotte Parent Coaching,＂ has over twelve years of experience as a school psychologist and parent coach. In addition to her work with individual families, she has worked extensively with public and private schools, mental health facilities, and taught at the college level. She has worked in several states, including Maryland, Minnesota, New York, and North Carolina.In addition, she has provided training to both individuals and groups on topics such as best practices in parenting, behavioral management of children, navigating the special education process in the schools, and academic and behavioral interventions for use in the classroom setting.
