At the 25th International Colloquium of the Corpus Vitrearum, which took place in one of the greatest of all museums, The Hermitage in St. Petersburg, the researchers of many countries discussed stained glass collections for the first time. The present conference transactions, published in the three official languages of the international Corpus Vitrearum, are dedicated to the reawakening of interest in ancient stained glass from the late eighteenth century. The contributions are concerned partly with the creation of collections and the motives of their collectors, but also with the odyssey of various panels and groups of windows. Other studies address wider aspects of the history of collections and the museum display of stained glass.
Anl sslich des 25. Internationalen Kolloquiums des Corpus Vitrearum, das in einem der gr ten und bedeutendsten Museen der Welt, der Staatlichen Eremitage in Sankt Petersburg, stattfand, wurden Glasmalereisammlungen erstmals von einer internationalen Autorengruppe des Corpus Vitrearum breit diskutiert. Die Beitr ge in den drei offiziellen Sprachen des Corpus Vitrearum behandeln das wiedererwachte Interesse an alter Glasmalerei. Die Autoren widmen sich der Entstehung bestimmter Sammlungen, der Motivation der Sammler, oder aber der Odyssee ausgew hlter Denkm ler sowie sammlungsgeschichtlichen Aspekten bis hin zu Fragen der musealen Pr sentation von Glasmalereien.
Lors du 25e Colloque international du Corpus Vitrearum qui a eu lieu l'Ermitage de Saint-P tersbourg, un des plus grands et des plus prestigieux mus es, les chercheurs venus de nombreux pays ont discut pour la premi re fois des collections de vitraux. Les contributions aux actes du colloque, publi es dans les trois langues officielles du Corpus Vitrearum international, sont consacr es au r veil de l'int r t pour le vitrail ancien. Les articles sont consacr s la cr ation de plusieurs collections et aux motivations des collectionneurs, ou bien encore l'odyss e que des panneaux ou des groupes de vitraux ont v cue. Certaines tudes traitent de l'histoire des collections, des aspects plus g n raux du collectionnisme ou de la mus ographie du vitrail.

Tim Ayers is a Senior Lecturer in the History of Art at the University of York, specializing in British art and architecture of the high and later middle ages, especially stained glass. He is a member of the British Committee of the Corpus Vitrearum and Vice President of the International Committee of the Corpus Vitrearum. He has published on the stained glass of Wells Cathedral and Merton College, Oxford.
Brigitte Kurmann-Schwarz is research scholar at the Vitrocentre Romont since 1992 and a Senior Lecturer in the History of Art at the University of Zürich since 2001. She is a member of the Swiss National Committee and President of the International Committee of the Corpus Vitrearum from 2004 to 2012, and the author of two Corpus volumes for Switzerland, as well as of numerous articles on medieval art and stained glass.
Claudine Lautier is a research scholar of the CNRS at the Centre André Chastel, Laboratoire de Recherche en Histoire de l’Art, and Vice-President of the International Committee of the Corpus Vitrearum. She has published on French Gothic architecture, Romanesque and Gothic stained glass and medieval treatises on the arts. Her present research is mainly focused upon Chartres Cathedral.
Hartmut Scholz is director of the Research Centre of the German Corpus Vitrearum in Freiburg i.B. and since 2004 scientific Secretary of the International Committee of the Corpus Vitrearum; he is the author of two volumes for the German Corpus Vitrearum, on the medieval stained glass in Franconia and Nuremberg, and in Ulm Minster. He has published numerous articles on late medieval and early modern art, especially on stained glass.
Tim Ayers ist als Senior Lecturer in Kunstgeschichte an der Universität von York tätig. Sein Spezialgebiet sind die hoch- und spätmittelalterliche Kunst und Architektur Großbritanniens, besonders die Glasmalerei. Er ist Mitglied des britischen Nationalkomitees und Vizepräsident des Internationalen Komitees des Corpus Vitrearum. Er veröffentlichte Studien zu den Glasmalereien der Kathedrale von Wells und Merton College in Oxford.
Brigitte Kurmann-Schwarz arbeitet am Vitrocentre Romont und ist seit 2001 Privatdozentin an der Universität Zürich. Mitglied des schweizerischen Nationalkomitees des Corpus Vitrearum, seit 2009 Titularprofessorin und von 2004 bis 2012 Präsidentin des internationalen Komitees des Corpus Vitrearum. Autorin von zwei Bänden des Corpus Vitrearum der Schweiz und zahlreicher Beiträge zur Glasmalerei und der Kunst des Mittelalters.
Claudine Lautier ist Forscherin des CNRS am Centre André Chastel, Laboratoire de Recherche en Histoire de l’Art, und Vizepräsidentin des Internationalen Komitees des Corpus Vitrearum. Ihre Forschungen befassen sich vor allem mit der gotischen Architektur, der romanischen und gotischen Glasmalerei und den mittelalterlichen Kunsttraktate. Gegenwärtig richtet sich ihr Interesse vor allem auf die Glasmalereien der Kathedrale von Chartres.
Hartmut Scholz ist Leiter der Freiburger Arbeitsstelle des Corpus Vitrearum Deutschland und seit 2004 wissenschaftlicher Sekretär des internationalen Komitees des Corpus Vitrearum; Autor von zwei Bänden des Corpus Vitrearum Medii Aevi Deutschland über die Glasmalereien der Region Mittelfranken/Nürnberg und des Ulmer Münsters sowie zahlreicher Beiträge zur Kunst des Spätmittelalters und der frühen Neuzeit mit Schwerpunkt Glasmalerei.

Ses recherches portent sur l’art et l’architecture, spécialement sur le vitrail du Moyen Âge central et tardif en Grande-Bretagne. Il est membre du Comité britannique du Corpus Vitrearum et Vice-président du Comité international. Il a publié des études sur les vitraux de la cathédrale de Wells et sur ceux de Merton College à Oxford.
