It highlights the different terroirs and vineyards across Bordeaux, and spotlights the grower-producers, their stories and their wines, which occupy the emerging ’middle’ in an area that has traditionally been polarized as cru classé or generic. The book identifies and discusses the challenges the region and its growers face and assess important catalysts for change such as climate change, new markets made by globally travelled younger generations, a focus on sustainability and wine tourism.

Mary Gorman-McAdams MW is a wine educator, wine judge and wine business strategist/marketer. She is the director at New York’s International Wine Center and between 2014 and 2019 she was the North American market advisor for the Bordeaux Wine Council, where she led its marketing and educational programmes. She is a regular wine judge and seminar speaker at the TEXSOM International Wine Awards, and has also judged at the Decanter World Wine Awards and the Ultimate Wine Challenge.
