Part I focusses on nutrition and sport science by explaining key principles underpinning sports nutrition science, including energy systems, exercise physiology and metabolism, and the digestion and absorption of macronutrients and micronutrients essential for performance and discusses factors influencing dietary intake, energy availability, and the process of dietary assessment. Part II is focussed on nutrition for exercise, pre- and post-training, hydration, supplements, and body composition measurement and modification. The final part (Part III) focusses on applied sports nutrition for a range of sports and athletes. This second edition delivers new insights into working with female athletes, occupational athletes, and athletes in contemporary sports including sport climbing, surfing, skateboarding, and breaking.

作者簡介

Regina Belski is a Professor of Dietetics and Discipline Lead of Dietetics at Swinburne University of Technology. She is also an Advanced Accredited Practising Dietitian (AdvAPD) and Advanced Sports Dietitian (AdvSD). Regina specialises in a personalised nutrition approach for health and performance, this entails exploring factors which impact on individuals’ dietary intakes and health outcomes, including modifiable factors such as nutrition knowledge, behaviour and more advanced fields such as nutrigenomics and variation of gene expression via dietary means as well as functional foods for human health and the microbiome. In her professional capacity as an Accredited Practising Dietitian, Regina has worked with clients including Olympic athletes and AFL players.

Adrienne Forsyth is an Associate Professor in Nutrition & Dietetics at Australian Catholic University. She is an Advanced Sports Dietitian and Accredited Exercise Physiologist with two decades of experience in practice, teaching and research. Adrienne is interested in finding sustainable solutions to nutrition-related issues and enjoys leading practice-based research in community and sport settings.

Evangeline Mantzioris is the Program Director of the Nutrition and Food Sciences Degree at the University of South Australia. She is a Senior lecturer, Accredited Practicing Dietitian (APD) and Sports Dietitian (AccSD) with over three decades of experience in research, university teaching, clinical dietetics and clinical teaching at major Adelaide teaching hospitals and in private practice. Evangeline’s research interests include omega-3 fatty acids, Mediterranean Diet, Sports nutrition, and the environment-food nexus.
